02 Overview
A first look
At first light in Cairo the Corniche often wears a thin veil of Nile mist, the city quieter and the drive to the airport faster than mid-morning traffic suggests. In Luxor the low sun flattens hieroglyphic reliefs into readable lines, and on Day 3 the sky becomes the trip’s centre of gravity as the eclipse progresses across the sun.
We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator; our Egyptologists schedule each morning around the eclipse hour and keep group sizes deliberately compact, unlike large packaged eclipse tours that force rigid timetables. One of our Cairo-based Egyptologists will brief you daily, and we arrange transfers plus the Cairo–Luxor internal flight so logistics are settled before the eclipse day.

03 What is not included in the Cairo + Luxor Solar Eclipse 2027 Package?

Upon your arrival at Cairo International Airport, a Discovery Tours Egypt representative will meet you for your transfer to the hotel. All subsequent transfers between cities, including the domestic flight to Luxor, and all sightseeing transport are arranged by our drivers in air-conditioned vehicles. -
05 Is the Cairo + Luxor Solar Eclipse 2027 Package suitable for families with children?
Yes, this package can be suitable for families, though we generally recommend it for children aged eight and above. This is due to the early starts and the amount of walking involved at ancient sites. Please let us know your children's ages for tailored advice. -
06 What clothing and items should I bring for the solar eclipse viewing?
For the eclipse, certified solar eclipse glasses are crucial for eye protection. We recommend light, breathable clothing, a wide-brimmed hat, and comfortable walking shoes. Sunscreen and a reusable water bottle are also advised given the August climate. -
07 What are the physical demands and accessibility considerations for this package?
The tour involves moderate walking on uneven ancient surfaces, climbing steps at various sites, and some early morning starts. Guests should be able to walk for extended periods. Please inform us of any specific mobility concerns you may have. -
08 What is the best time of year to undertake this eclipse package in Egypt?
The solar eclipse is scheduled for August 2027, which falls during Egypt's summer. Temperatures can be high, particularly in Luxor. We carefully plan activities to minimise exposure during the hottest parts of the day, and all transport is air-conditioned. -
09 Will I have an Egyptologist guide for the entire 5-day package?
Yes, you will be accompanied by a dedicated, licensed Egyptologist guide for all guided sightseeing activities in both Cairo and Luxor. Our guides offer in-depth historical context and local insights at each location. -
10 What is the specific viewing plan for the solar eclipse on Day 3?
On Day 3, we will take you to a carefully selected location in Luxor to ensure the best possible viewing experience for the solar eclipse. Precise details regarding the exact site and timings will be communicated closer to the event date.
