How to choose

The 5-star Nile cruise ship (Oberoi Philae, Sanctuary Sun Boat IV – 40 to 60 cabins) is the right answer if you specifically want a pool deck and a faster sailing schedule. Two routes after the temples. The Red Sea villa (Marsa Alam or El Gouna, reef-front terrace, private plunge pool) is the most-booked honeymoon closer. The Sinai option (Dahab, St Catherine's Monastery, Mount Sinai sunrise) suits couples who'd prefer adventure to beach. Or extend the Nile itself – a 7-night dahabiya instead of a 4-night sailing.

October through April for the comfortable Cairo / Luxor / Aswan weather window. Late October and early November combine peak Nile water levels with quieter cruise traffic – that's the planner's recommended pick. December and January are coldest at night (good for honeymooners who'd rather see temples without the heat); April lines up with Easter and one of the prettiest weather windows in Upper Egypt. We don't run honeymoon southern itineraries in July or August by default.
Almost always, yes. A dahabiya is a 6–12 cabin traditional sailing vessel – your cruise becomes effectively private to your party plus a handful of other couples. The standard 5-star Nile cruise ship carries 120–200 guests with set meal seatings and a faster schedule. Dahabiyas moor at quiet bank sites the big ships can't reach (Silsila, El Kab, Hagar Silsila), dinners are on the sun deck under stars, and the pace is set by wind not engines. Price premium: 60–100% above ship.
