Budget Egypt Holidays

Budget Egypt holidays aren't stripped-down Egypt holidays – they're the same Cairo + Luxor + Aswan + Nile cruise itinerary as our 5-star clients, run on 4-star hotels, on dates that fall outside the festive and half-term peaks, with shared (rather than private) transfers on selected travel days. Everything that matters – your Egyptologist guide, all temple admissions, the cruise itself – stays private. Budget Egypt holidays start around £950 per person for 7 days, ground-only.

The hallmarks

The hallmarks of a budget Egypt holiday

Egypt is one of the great-value destinations on the map right now – world-changing antiquity at prices that compare favourably to a week in southern Europe. Our budget Egypt holidays aren't stripped-down holidays; they're the same Cairo + Luxor + Aswan + Nile cruise circuit our 5-star clients book, run on 4-star hotels and on travel dates outside the Christmas, New Year and half-term peaks.

Picture the same morning at the Pyramids before the coach groups arrive, the same Egyptologist-led tour of the Grand Egyptian Museum, the same Nile sail past Edfu – just in a 4-star room rather than a Marriott Mena House suite. Everything that defines the experience stays private and included. The savings come from accommodation tier and travel-date selection, not from cutting content. Seven-day private budget holidays start around £950 per person, ground-only.

How to choose

How to choose your budget Egypt holiday

Three pillars decide where the savings come from on a budget Egypt holiday. None of them should compromise the experience itself.

Your accommodation tier

The biggest lever. 4-star hotels (Steigenberger Pyramids, Sonesta St. George Luxor) and 4-star cruise vessels (M.S. Concerto, Moon Goddess) get you the same itinerary at roughly half the 5-star price. Mid-range hybrids – 4-star hotels with a 5-star cruise – sit in between. The Egyptologist, transfers, admissions and itinerary stay identical across tiers.

Your travel window

May, early June and early September are the value sweet spots – sites 30% emptier than October–April, prices 25–35% below peak. We don't run 7-day southern itineraries in late July or August by default (Aswan and Abu Simbel hit 43–48°C). November to February is peak; late January drops 20% versus December after the New Year reset.

Your transfer style

Some of our budget itineraries use shared transfers on internal travel days (Cairo airport drop, for example) to bring the per-person price down further. Your guide stays private throughout – only the transfer vehicle is shared with another party on those specific legs. Most clients accept this trade-off once we explain it; tell us if you'd prefer fully private transfers and we'll quote both options upfront.

    Amwaj Nile Cruise

    Nile (cruise route)

Amwaj Nile Cruise is a river vessel offering full-board sailings on the Nile between Luxor and Aswan. The vessel sails weekly in both directions and embarks and disembarks at Luxor and Aswan. The excursion programme alternates sailing days with visits to Karnak, Luxor Temple, Edfu (Temple of Horus), Kom Ombo, Philae and the Valley of the Kings. We select and arrange this cruise for our clients, and we do not bundle premium site extras such as pyramid interiors, which are optional and charged separately.

  3. A Sara Nile CruiseBudget

    A Sara Nile Cruise

    Luxor

A Sara sails the Nile between Aswan and Luxor, calling at Kom Ombo, Edfu, the Valley of the Kings and Luxor's East Bank. Choose the Aswan-to-Luxor, four-day option that departs every Wednesday, or the five-day Luxor-to-Aswan option that departs every Saturday with an optional Abu Simbel extension. Days combine temple visits with short daytime sailings, so you spend more time ashore at Edfu and Kom Ombo than on many tightly timed itineraries. Evenings are spent on deck with river views and relaxed dining. We arrange the Abu Simbel excursion by coach or scheduled flight if you add it when you book.

    From £3903 Nights

  5. Beach Albatros Resort, Hurghada

    Beach Albatros Resort, Hurghada

    Hurghada

Beach Albatros Resort sits on the Red Sea coast in Hurghada and offers beach and pool facilities. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and do not run group bus tours; all transfers are private and our Hurghada team offers 24/7 on-ground support. Unlike cruise-based excursions, a land stay lets you snorkel independently on the house reef or join an optional private day trip to Giftun Island. Expect busy high season; buffet restaurants can queue at peak times and there is limited shade at midday on parts of the beach. We can add private snorkelling guides, scuba lessons and transfers to Hurghada Airport.

  6. Pickalbatros Aqua Park Resort, Hurghada

    Pickalbatros Aqua Park Resort, Hurghada

    Hurghada

Pickalbatros Aqua Park Resort Hurghada is a beachfront hotel with an on-site waterpark, multiple pools and family rooms. As a licensed Egyptian tour operator, we arrange private transfers and optional day trips for snorkelling or diving from Hurghada Marina. Unlike Hurghada hotels without waterparks, guests can spend several hours onsite without leaving the resort; we typically pair stays with a private boat to Giftun Island rather than a crowded group cruise. The resort is busiest during Egyptian and European school holidays, when pool queues and noise increase. We can add quieter room allocations and early beach times where available.

  7. Pickalbatros Aqua Blu Resort, Hurghada

    Pickalbatros Aqua Blu Resort, Hurghada

    Hurghada

Pickalbatros Aqua Blu Resort Hurghada sits on the Red Sea coast in Hurghada. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and arrange bookings, private transfers and room options at this property. We do not allocate guests into large coach-group blocks at our partner hotels; instead we book rooms and arrival logistics individually. Unlike mass-market charter packages, we can tailor arrival times and add private transfers or local support on request. Trade-offs: the resort can be busy in Egyptian school holidays and some room locations require a short walk between reception and the shoreline.

  8. Naama Waves Hotel, Sharm El Sheikh

Naama Waves Hotel, Sharm El Sheikh

    Sharm El Sheikh

Naama Waves Hotel sits in Naama Bay, Sharm El Sheikh and suits travellers wanting straightforward access to the bay and promenade. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and we arrange transfers, snorkelling trips and day excursions from our Sinai team. Distinctive POV: we typically book Naama Waves when clients prioritise location for sightseeing and dive departures rather than resort seclusion. Unlike large, full-board resort complexes, this hotel has a simpler on-site offer and works better for independent day plans. Trade-offs: peak-season noise and variable room sizes are common; we pre-check room allocation and advise best dates for quieter stays.

  9. Barceló Cairo Pyramids Hotel, Giza

    Barceló Cairo Pyramids Hotel, Giza

    Cairo

Barceló Cairo Pyramids Hotel sits on the Giza edge, with rooftop terraces that face Khufu and Khafre. We use this hotel when clients want a clear pyramid view without staying on the plateau itself. The hotel provides a rooftop pool, an on-site restaurant and rooms with direct pyramid views when available. It is approximately a 10–15 minute private-car transfer to the Giza Plateau; traffic can lengthen journeys to central Cairo and the Egyptian Museum (typically 30–45 minutes). Expect some road noise on the main approach road, and book pyramid-view rooms early–they are limited.

  10. Basma, Citymax – Aswan

    Basma, Citymax – Aswan

    Aswan

Basma, Citymax is a straightforward, budget hotel in Aswan that we book for short stays and practical, city-based itineraries. We arrange private transfers, arrival logistics and local support for excursions. Unlike Nile-side resorts, Basma, Citymax focuses on practical rooms and town access rather than extensive leisure facilities. Expect simpler facilities than larger hotels and limited on-site dining or spa services; it's a value choice rather than a resort. We often pair stays here with Abu Simbel transfers and Aswan sightseeing. Discovery Tours Egypt is a licensed Egyptian tour operator and we can include Basma, Citymax in bespoke Aswan programmes.

  11. Obelisk Nile Hotel – Aswan

    Obelisk Nile Hotel – Aswan

    Aswan

Obelisk Nile Hotel in Aswan provides practical, mid-range accommodation for overnight stays and day-trip departures. We use it for short Aswan stops rather than replacing a multi-night Nile cruise or a larger riverside hotel. Unlike Nile cruise vessels, a hotel stay here allows later arrivals and simpler private transfers to Philae and Abu Simbel. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and arrange private transfers, guided visits, and luggage handling. Facilities are modest compared with large riverside hotels; rooms can be basic and public areas are compact. We confirm room location and river-view availability at booking.

  12. Obelisk Nile Towers Hotel – Aswan

Obelisk Nile Towers Hotel – Aswan

    Aswan

Obelisk Nile Towers Hotel is a hotel in Aswan commonly booked for short stays and pre- or post-cruise nights. We arrange transfers, breakfast and flexible check-in as a licensed Egyptian tour operator. We use this property as a practical one- or two-night base for visits to Aswan; we do not propose it as a long-stay luxury option. Unlike Nile cruise boats, a land stay allows earlier departures to Abu Simbel and easier late-night arrivals from rail or air. Expect straightforward city-hotel facilities rather than extensive resort leisure; we can combine the booking with private drivers, airport or rail transfers and early-morning departures.

  13. Pyramisa Isis Island, Aswan

    Pyramisa Isis Island, Aswan

    Aswan

Pyramisa Isis Island sits on Isis Island in Aswan and offers waterside rooms with an island setting. As a licensed Egyptian tour operator, we arrange the short boat transfer most island stays require and manage private arrivals. We favour island hotels when clients want quieter evenings; unlike hotels on the Aswan Corniche, this location trades easier road access for reduced traffic noise. Expect limited direct road access and a brief boat crossing for luggage and passengers. We can request specific room types and coordinate timings with your Nile crossings and Aswan activities, but boat transfers add a small logistic step compared with mainland hotels.

  14. Iberotel Aracan, Luxor

    Iberotel Aracan, Luxor

    Luxor

Iberotel Aracan is a centrally located hotel in Luxor used as a base for East Bank and West Bank visits. As a licensed Egyptian tour operator, we arrange stays, private transfers and early West Bank starts from Iberotel Aracan. We choose this hotel for travellers who prioritise convenient access to Luxor Temple and Karnak Temple over resort-scale leisure facilities. Unlike Nile cruise shore calls, a hotel base lets you begin West Bank visits at first light. Rooms are comfortable; facilities are more compact than larger Nile-side resorts, and Corniche traffic can be audible during peak season. We can add private guiding and transfers on request.

  15. Pickalbatros Aqua Vista Resort, Hurghada

    Pickalbatros Aqua Vista Resort, Hurghada

    Hurghada

Pickalbatros Aqua Vista Resort is located in Hurghada on the Red Sea and provides resort accommodation with pools and family rooms. We recommend this hotel as a practical base for families and snorkellers rather than for experienced liveaboard divers seeking remote reefs. Unlike small boutique hotels in Old Hurghada, the resort offers larger communal facilities and organised daytime activities. As a licensed Egyptian tour operator we arrange airport transfers, snorkel trips and family-room allocation on request. Expect busy periods during Egyptian school holidays; pool areas may be crowded and some poolside areas have limited shade at midday.

  16. Basma Hotel – Aswan

    Basma Hotel – Aswan

    Aswan

Basma Hotel is a straightforward, central Aswan hotel offering simple rooms and practical services for short stays. We usually pair Basma with private transfers to Philae Temple and Abu Simbel rather than bundling a Nile cruise, so guests keep evening access to the corniche and souk. Trade-offs include fewer guest facilities and more compact rooms compared with larger city hotels, and limited lift access in some buildings. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and confirm exact room types, rates and transfer timetables at enquiry.

  17. Hurghada hotels: Seagull, Long Beach, Continental, Swiss Inn

Hurghada hotels: Seagull, Long Beach, Continental, Swiss Inn

    Hurghada

Four Hurghada hotels – Seagull Resort, Long Beach Resort, Continental and Swiss Inn – offer direct Red Sea access and a range of price points. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and we arrange private airport transfers, daily snorkel trips, optional guided dives and room upgrades where available. We don't bundle these hotels into fixed coach packages; we prefer private transfers to reduce arrival queues. Unlike short cruise shore excursions, a multi-night hotel stay gives repeat reef access and relaxed surface intervals for snorkellers. Expect higher occupancy and louder pool areas during Egyptian and European school holidays; some public beaches are shared with day-trip operators.
