Luxury Egypt Holidays

A luxury Egypt holiday isn't just about the hotels – though the Marriott Mena House overlooking the Pyramids, the Old Cataract in Aswan and the Four Seasons Nile Plaza in Cairo set a high bar. It's about access: a private sunrise slot at the Pyramids before the day-trip groups arrive, a senior Egyptologist with a research background rather than a rote script, and a dahabiya Nile cruise with six cabins instead of two hundred. Every luxury Egypt holiday we build is genuinely private: no shared departures, no other groups, no rigid timing. Tell us what you care most about and we design the holiday around it.

The hallmarks

The hallmarks of a luxury Egypt holiday

A truly exclusive luxury Egypt holiday goes far beyond five-star hotels. It's about moving through Egypt effortlessly – from private airport assistance to seamless transfers and a dedicated Egyptologist who understands your pace and interests. Picture standing before the Great Pyramid of Giza without feeling rushed, or exploring the tombs of the Valley of the Kings with expert insight tailored to your party.

Whether you prefer a fully tailor-made private holiday, a refined family journey or an elevated version of a classic itinerary, true Egypt luxury lies in personalisation, privileged access and thoughtful details that turn a standard Egypt holiday into a seamless, deeply memorable trip.

How to choose

How to choose your luxury itinerary

Choosing the right luxury Egypt holiday comes down to how you'd like to balance historical discovery with world-class relaxation. Three pillars usually decide the shape.

Your style of navigation

Do you picture yourself on a large luxury Nile cruise with full spa facilities, or would you prefer the intimacy of a private dahabiya? Larger 5-star ships (Oberoi Philae, Sanctuary Sun Boat IV) carry 40 to 60 suite-only cabins with butler service and Egyptologist guides retained per group. Dahabiyas (6 to 12 cabins, sail under canvas) moor at small bank sites the big ships can't reach – Silsila, El Kab, Hagar Silsila – and the dinners are on the sundeck under stars. Read more on our luxury Nile cruise or dahabiya pages.

Your style of stay

Cairo opens with a choice between the Marriott Mena House at the foot of the Pyramids plateau (hosting guests since 1869) or the Four Seasons Nile Plaza in central Cairo. Aswan's signature is the Sofitel Old Cataract, whose Agatha Christie suite is the room the Death on the Nile film used. Luxor's Sofitel Winter Palace puts you walking distance from the East Bank temples for the evening sound-and-light show.

Your level of access

True Egypt luxury is the privileged moments other guests don't get. A private 5:30am gate-open at the Pyramids, with ninety minutes on the plateau before any other visitor. KV5 or KV9 after-hours in the Valley of the Kings – the tombs the day-trip groups don't reach. A senior Egyptologist whose name is on the academic literature, not just a tour brochure. Each of these is arranged by our Cairo office and built into the itinerary, never an upsell.

This is a small-boat alternative to four-night motor-ship cruises; the slower schedule lets you visit quieter riverbanks and villages. We arrange private Egyptologists and short road transfers rather than large coach movements. Expect smaller cabins and fewer onboard facilities than a large river cruise ship, and variable sail timings when wind conditions change. We operate Adelaide Dahabiya as a licensed Egyptian tour operator and provide local crew, fuel-powered backup, and all on-shore logistics.

  5. Akhnaton Dahabiya Nile Cruise

    Akhnaton Dahabiya Nile Cruise

    Nile (cruise route)

The Akhnaton Dahabiya is a traditional sail-powered craft offering seven days on the Nile between Luxor and Aswan. We operate it as a small, privately chartered dahabiya; we don't run group-bus tours. Typical calls include Luxor West Bank, Karnak Temple, Esna lock, Edfu Temple and Kom Ombo. Unlike packaged motor cruises, a dahabiya sails more slowly and anchors at quieter riverside moorings overnight. Trade-offs: cabins are generally smaller than on motor cruise ships and sailing days depend on wind; there is limited shade on the sun deck at midday. We can arrange a private Egyptologist and bespoke shore excursions for each group.

    Hadeel Dahabiya Nile Cruise

We hand-picked this dahabiya for travellers who prefer personalised service, chef-prepared meals and access to shallower reaches larger motor cruisers cannot visit. The vessel's shore excursion programme includes Karnak, Luxor Temple, Edfu (Temple of Horus), Kom Ombo, Philae and the Valley of the Kings, with stops at Gebel Silsila and El Kab when conditions permit. The vessel sails weekly in both directions between Luxor and Aswan.

    Iris Luxury Dahabiya Nile Cruise

    Nile (cruise route)

Sail seven days along the Nile between Luxor and Aswan aboard Iris, a privately operated luxury dahabiya. We operate Iris as a private dahabiya rather than a large motor ship; that means slower transit and more time ashore. Unlike 4‑night motor cruise patterns, a dahabiya allows ad hoc moorings and quieter nights on the river. Our Egyptologists give daily briefings and accompany guided walks ashore. Trade‑offs: cabins are more compact than on larger ships, shade on deck is limited at midday, and some temple visits require early starts. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and arrange private embarkations and ground transfers.

Unlike larger Nile cruise ships, this itinerary prioritises sailing time and evenings at village quays rather than fixed port turnarounds. Standard site entrance fees are included; pyramid interiors and premium tombs are extra and not included unless requested. Expect simpler cabins, occasional river noise and fewer onboard facilities during sail days. Arranged by Discovery Tours Egypt, a licensed Egyptian tour operator.

    Princess Cleopatra Dahabiya Nile Cruise

    Nile (cruise route)

The Princess Cleopatra dahabiya is a seven-day traditional-sailing cruise along the Nile. Unlike motorised mini-cruises, dahabiyas use sails traditionally and give quieter overnight crossings. We operate this itinerary as a licensed Egyptian tour operator and can adjust embarkation points where feasible. Expect compact cabins and generous deck space for daytime sailing; plan for early starts at temples, walking on uneven ancient stone, and occasional itinerary changes when wind is light. Standard site entrance fees apply unless we state otherwise; premium tombs and pyramid interiors are extra. We recommend seven days to see key riverside sites without repeated hotel changes.

    Nile (cruise route)

This seven-day Nile cruise aboard the Royal Cleopatra dahabiya visits Luxor West Bank, Karnak Temple, Edfu, Kom Ombo and Aswan. We operate private, sail-powered dahabiyas rather than large motor cruise ships; sailing slows transit and reduces engine noise. One of our Egyptologists provides a pre-embarkation briefing in Luxor, and we arrange guided visits and local transfers throughout. Unlike standard four-night motor-cruise itineraries, the seven-day dahabiya gives proper time at Edfu and Kom Ombo rather than rushed stopovers. Trade-offs: cabins are generally smaller than on larger Nile cruisers, sailing relies on wind, and some excursions require early starts to avoid midday heat. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and handle all practical arrangements.

  18. Miriam Nile CruiseBudget

    Miriam Nile Cruise

    Nile (cruise route)

You board MS Miriam at the Luxor Corniche pier mid-afternoon and settle into a compact river cabin before the first walk to Karnak. I meet you on the quay: I am the Egyptologist who guides this route and I take you straight to the temple avenues where the sound of sandals on sandstone and the smell of date-syrup stalls still set the rhythm of the day. We start early on the West Bank at the Valley of the Kings – low light, few people, and panels that explain the painted ceilings up close. Back on board you watch the Nile change color as the vessel slips through the Esna lock; we moor overnight near Edfu so the temple visit gets two hours rather than a rushed stop. Day three gives you Kom Ombo’s double shrines and the Nile at dusk; on arrival in Aswan I show you Philae’s hypostyle hall and the High Dam’s concrete scale against the river. Cabins are compact (about 12 m²) – classic river scale, not ocean-liner. Full board includes three meals daily; breakfasts are early to match excursions. Practical notes: bring a hat for the tombs, wear closed shoes on uneven rock, and expect short walks and stairs at most sites. I walk every route with you, point out mason’s marks and later-period graffiti, and keep the timing tight so photography fits the light.

Four-day Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan aboard MS The Oberoi Phiale with guided visits to Karnak, Luxor West Bank, Edfu, Kom Ombo and Philae. As a licensed Egyptian tour operator, we provide our Egyptologists for shore excursions and time visits early or late to avoid the midday sun. Unlike larger motor-vessel programmes, we keep longer stops at Edfu and Kom Ombo rather than brief drive-by visits. Expect early starts, walking on uneven ancient stone and limited shade on sun decks; premium tombs such as Tutankhamun's are excluded unless requested. We arrange private transfers and bespoke extensions in Luxor or Aswan.

  50. Ruby 1 Nile Cruise

    Ruby 1 Nile Cruise

    Nile (cruise route)

MS Ruby 1 is a Nile river vessel offering a four-day, three-night cruise along the Nile. We position this as a compact river option for travellers who prefer three nights aboard rather than a seven-night itinerary. Unlike longer cruises, this 4-day sailing concentrates on core river travel and normally requires earlier departures and shorter shore visits. As a licensed Egyptian tour operator, we arrange private transfers, luggage handling and Egyptologist-guided shore visits. Trade-offs include fewer stops ashore, more early starts for excursions, and more walking on uneven ancient stone during visits. Ask us about adding pre- or post-cruise nights in Cairo or Luxor.

  51. The Oberoi Zahra Nile Cruise

    The Oberoi Zahra Nile Cruise

    Nile (cruise route)

A four-day Nile cruise aboard MS The Oberoi Zahra with Egyptologist-led shore excursions and private transfers arranged by our team. We don't bundle premium tombs and pyramid interiors into the fixed cruise price; we add them on request to keep the base price transparent. Compared with rushed three-day packages, a four-day schedule gives proper time ashore at Luxor West Bank and the Aswan temples. Standard site entrance fees are included; pyramid interiors (Khufu/Khafre) and premium tombs (Tutankhamun/Seti I) are excluded unless requested. Trade-offs include early starts, walking on uneven ancient stone and limited shade at midday temple visits.

  52. Nile Premium Nile Cruise

    Nile Premium Nile Cruise

    Nile (cruise route)

MS Nile Premiums is a four-day cruise linking Luxor and Aswan with guided temple visits and onboard accommodation. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and operate this as a Nile-only itinerary–Cairo or Giza visits are not bundled into the cruise. Unlike many three-night packages, the fourth day allows scheduled calls at Edfu and Kom Ombo rather than rushed drive-bys. Expect organised shore visits with our Egyptologists, compact cabin layouts on most Nile vessels, and short organised walks on uneven ancient stone at shore sites. Standard site entrance fees are included unless stated; pyramid interiors, premium tombs and gratuities are excluded.

    Cairo

Novotel 6 October is a full-service hotel in 6th of October City, west of central Cairo. As a licensed Egyptian tour operator, we arrange private airport transfers, timed departures and guided excursions from this base. We often recommend it for clients with business in Smart Village; we do not usually advise it for short, first-time sightseeing stays in central Cairo because journeys to the Egyptian Museum or Khan al-Khalili commonly exceed 40 minutes in peak traffic. Expect 35–60 minutes by private car to the Giza Plateau (Khufu, Khafre, Menkaure) depending on traffic. On-site parking and quieter suburban streets are practical advantages.

Steigenberger Resort Achti Luxor – Luxor hotel

    Luxor

Steigenberger Resort Achti Luxor is a centrally located Luxor hotel we use as a stable base for multi-day East and West Bank sightseeing. As a licensed Egyptian tour operator, we arrange room reservations, airport and local transfers, and private Egyptologists for visits to Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple and the West Bank necropolis. We prefer land-based hotels for longer stays because they avoid daily packing and provide a consistent overnight address, unlike short Nile-cruise nights that move every day. Expect early starts for Valley of the Kings visits, possible town traffic at peak hours, and the usual hot, dry afternoons in summer.

  63. Pickalbatros White Beach Resort, Hurghada

    Pickalbatros White Beach Resort, Hurghada

    Hurghada

Pickalbatros White Beach Resort is a Hurghada hotel on the Red Sea, bookable through our licensed Egyptian tour operator. We sell this property as a straightforward beach option rather than a bundled Nile-and-beach package; many clients prefer to add a separate Nile stay so each part of Egypt gets proper time. We include private airport transfers and can add diving or snorkelling excursions on request. Expect busy periods in July–August and limited shade on the shoreline at midday; we recommend early-morning snorkel trips and an early check-in when possible. Rates, room types and transfer times are confirmed at booking.

  64. Steigenberger Nile Palace, Luxor

    Steigenberger Nile Palace, Luxor

    Luxor

Steigenberger Nile Palace sits on Luxor's Nile Corniche on the East Bank, within easy reach of Luxor Temple and the river piers. Rooms face the Nile or the city. We favour this hotel as a practical city base for East Bank sightseeing; unlike cruise passengers, guests return to the same hotel each evening. As a licensed Egyptian tour operator we arrange Nile-view rooms, private transfers and guided visits with our Egyptologists. Trade-offs: lower-floor rooms can suffer Corniche traffic noise, and the hotel is a modern property rather than a small, historic guesthouse.

  65. Hilton Luxor Hotel, Luxor

    Hilton Luxor Hotel, Luxor

    Luxor

Hilton Luxor is an international-brand hotel in Luxor that we book for travellers seeking consistent service and straightforward logistics. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and arrange private transfers, room requests and guided-excursion departures. Distinctive POV: we prefer boutique hotels for extended stays because they offer more local character; Hilton Luxor suits short stays or tightly timed itineraries. Compared with small guesthouses, Hilton centralises check-in and on-site services, which helps when flights arrive late. Trade-offs: busier public areas, less local character and higher peak-season rates than smaller properties. We can request specific room types and early breakfasts to match departures for Luxor West Bank sites.

Sonesta St. George Hotel – Luxor Nilefront

    Luxor

Sonesta St. George sits on Luxor’s Nile Corniche on the East Bank, a short drive from Luxor Temple and Karnak Temple. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and arrange private transfers, Egyptologist-guided pickups and timed-entry tickets where available. Distinctive POV: we do not run large coach arrivals; private transfers reduce waiting and help with early starts. Compared with cruise-based stays, staying on the East Bank cuts crossing time to West Bank sites in the morning. Trade-offs: Corniche traffic can be audible in road-side rooms and riverside rooms face more sun in mid-afternoon.

    Cleopatra Luxury Sharm El Sheikh

    Sharm El Sheikh

Cleopatra Luxury Sharm El Sheikh is a hotel in Sharm El Sheikh offering beach and pool facilities. We book this hotel on request and arrange private airport transfers and local assistance from our Sharm team. We don't sell group-bus arrival transfers for this property; we use private cars so arrival times match flights and dive bookings. Unlike remote Red Sea resorts, this hotel places guests within easy reach of shops, dive centres and evening restaurants. Some rooms face the street and can be noisy after 22:00; beachfront rooms are limited and often carry a supplement. Temperatures in summer often exceed 35°C; we recommend morning snorkeling and early transfers to avoid heat.

    Sharm El Sheikh

Naama Bay Suites & Spa is on Naama Bay's promenade in Sharm el‑Sheikh; we offer one-night bookings for short stopovers. We use this hotel primarily for late arrivals and short stays rather than multi-night beach holidays. Unlike larger beachfront resorts in Ras Mohamed or Nabq, the hotel places you within walking distance of Naama Bay's shops, cafés and nightlife. Expect more evening noise than at remote beach resorts, and limited resort-style private beach facilities compared with dedicated beach properties. As a licensed Egyptian tour operator, we arrange private transfers, early check-in requests and any special requests for a single-night stopover.

  69. Sofitel Winter Palace, Luxor

    Sofitel Winter Palace, Luxor

    Luxor

The Sofitel Winter Palace in Luxor is a historic Nile-front hotel opened in 1907 and set within walled gardens. Its location on the corniche places Luxor Temple a short walk away, with Karnak Temple reachable by a brief transfer. We prefer the Winter Palace when clients want a town-centre base with formal gardens and direct access to shops and museums, rather than a river-cruise cabin. Rooms in the original Palace wing retain period proportions; some have lower ceilings and smaller bathrooms, so consider a garden- or Nile-view room for a more modern layout. As a licensed Egyptian tour operator, we arrange private transfers, room requests and early museum access.

  70. Tolip Aswan Hotel, Aswan

    Tolip Aswan Hotel, Aswan

    Aswan

Tolip Aswan is a hotel in Aswan we commonly use for practical overnight stays on land. We arrange rooms, private transfers and early check-ins where possible. We favour Tolip Aswan for short stays because it simplifies logistics; we do not bundle it with Nile cruises as standard. Unlike Nile cruise public areas, Tolip offers predictable land-based transfers and simpler luggage handling. Facilities and communal spaces are more modest than larger hotels or cruise ships, so if you require extensive leisure amenities we advise a different property. Discovery Tours Egypt is a licensed Egyptian tour operator and handles all local arrangements.

We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and arrange airport transfers, early check-in and quiet-room requests for arriving or departing guests. The property offers standard rooms and suites, a swimming pool, a casino and 24‑hour dining; meeting rooms are available for small groups. We prefer Sonesta for pre- or post‑flight stays because it combines airport convenience with full hotel facilities; unlike terminal hotels, it has leisure spaces and meeting capacity. Trade-offs: some rooms face the casino and street; request a higher-floor room if you need quieter nights.

Steigenberger Hotel El Tahrir, Cairo (Tahrir Square)

    Cairo

Steigenberger Hotel El Tahrir sits on Mohamed Mahmoud Street beside Tahrir Square, opposite the Egyptian Museum. We arrange stays here for guests prioritising central museums and government offices; unlike hotels on the Giza Plateau, this is an urban base rather than a Pyramid-front location. The hotel offers rooms, an onsite restaurant and a rooftop terrace; we can book private transfers and flexible check-in through Discovery Tours Egypt, a licensed Egyptian tour operator. City-centre traffic can add 30–60 minutes to Cairo International Airport transfers at peak times, and street-facing rooms can be noisy.

  74. Radisson Blu, Cairo

    Radisson Blu, Cairo

    Cairo

Radisson Blu in Cairo provides international-standard rooms and practical services; we book it often for arrival and departure nights. We prefer Radisson Blu when clients need predictable logistics: unlike small boutique hotels, its straightforward reception and transport options reduce risk on late or early flights. We arrange airport transfers, early check-in requests where possible, and private cars for onward Cairo sightseeing. Trade-offs: this is a business-style hotel rather than a heritage property, and you should expect standard city traffic noise rather than a quiet garden setting. Discovery Tours Egypt is a licensed Egyptian tour operator and manages local arrangements and billing.

Unlike central Cairo hotels, it suits short stops and early flights. We arrange private transfers and meet-and-greet on request. Rooms are straightforward and functional; do expect practical amenities rather than boutique design or extensive leisure facilities. Our drivers can collect or drop you at agreed times, and B&B or room-only options are available depending on your preference.

Steigenberger Cairo Pyramids Hotel (Bed & Breakfast)

    Cairo

Steigenberger Cairo Pyramids Hotel is a bed-and-breakfast hotel in Giza, about 3.5 km (12-minute drive) from the Giza Plateau. We use this hotel for short Giza transfers and early starts to Khufu; unlike inner‑Cairo hotels, it typically reduces morning drive time to the plateau. Breakfast is included and we arrange airport transfers and pyramid-site excursions through our team. Selected rooms have views of the Giza Plateau; those rooms must be requested at booking as availability is limited. Peak-traffic transfers can add 20–40 minutes. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and will confirm room category and transfer times when you book.

    Aswan

Sonesta Nouba, Movenpick Resort and The Zen Wellness Resort are three Aswan hotels we routinely book for land-based stays. We do not bundle these hotels with cruise-ship shore excursions; we prefer full hotel nights so luggage handling and private pick-ups remain consistent. As a licensed Egyptian tour operator, our team arranges private transfers, early-check requests and local support in Aswan. Rooms with genuine Nile views are limited at all three properties, so request a Nile-view room at booking. Expect quieter evenings and reduced restaurant hours in low season; this is common across Aswan hotels.

Helnan Mamoura is a seafront hotel on Alexandria's Corniche offering a quiet Mediterranean base for short stays and conference use. We favour it for single-night stopovers because it places guests on the Corniche at sunset without central traffic. Montazah Royal Gardens and Montazah Palace lie a short drive away; Qaitbay Citadel is reachable by Corniche drive. Corniche rush-hour can add to transfer times and some rooms face the road rather than the sea. As a licensed Egyptian tour operator, we arrange room reservations, private cars and half-day tours from Helnan Mamoura.

As a licensed Egyptian tour operator, we arrange private transfers and Nile-view rooms when available. The hotel houses multiple restaurants, a rooftop terrace and a spa, and offers a quieter island base compared with hotels on the Giza Plateau. Expect peak-hour transfers to Giza to take 45–60 minutes; some rooms face the inner courtyard and do not have Nile views. We do not operate large coach transfers from the property, so arrivals and departures are handled with private cars and timed meet-and-greets.

    Sofitel Legend Old Cataract, Aswan

    Aswan

Sofitel Legend Old Cataract is a riverside hotel in Aswan dating to 1899. Built in a Victorian style, it offers rooms and terraces overlooking the Nile and Elephantine Island. Agatha Christie stayed at the hotel; it is historically associated with Death on the Nile. We use Old Cataract primarily for short pre- or post-cruise and flight nights rather than extended city stays. Unlike modern city chain hotels, its original 19th-century wing has narrow corridors and several staircases. As a licensed Egyptian tour operator, we book rooms, secure private transfers and coordinate early check-ins when flights require them. Note that heritage-wing rooms are smaller and some terraces have limited shade at midday.

    Hurghada

Stay at Hilton Hurghada Plaza or Marriott Hurghada on Hurghada's Red Sea coast. Both hotels place you on the Red Sea shoreline and suit snorkelling or diving itineraries. As a licensed Egyptian tour operator, we arrange private transfers from Hurghada International Airport (HRG) and book local dive operators directly. We prefer to sell room and activity components separately rather than an opaque 'resort dive' bundle; that gives you flexibility to choose morning or afternoon boat trips. Trade-offs: peak-season weeks are busier and rooms facing pools can be noisy at night. Meal-plan and room-category requests are handled on enquiry.

Practical questions

What clients ask about this style of holiday.

  1. 01What makes a luxury Egypt holiday different from a standard one?

Three things: hotel tier (5-star with recognised names – Marriott Mena House, Four Seasons, St. Regis, Old Cataract Aswan), guiding exclusivity (senior Egyptologist, no group sharing), and access privileges like private sunrise slots at the Pyramids, after-hours tomb visits in the Valley of the Kings, and dahabiya Nile cruises that moor at sites the big ships can't reach. The price difference – roughly double a 4-star holiday – also buys 24/7 concierge support from our in-house team.

  2. 02What is the best luxury hotel in Egypt near the Pyramids?

Marriott Mena House is the benchmark – 800 metres from the Great Pyramid, hosting guests since 1869, with palace suites overlooking the plateau and a pool set against the ancient skyline. For something more contemporary, the JW Marriott Cairo and the Four Seasons Nile Plaza are the other 5-star standards in the city.

  3. 03How much does a luxury Egypt holiday cost from the UK?

Luxury Egypt holidays start around £3,600 per person for 7 days at suite-level (Marriott Mena House suite, Sanctuary Sun Boat IV cruise) and run to £9,800+ per person for the 15-day dahabiya + Old Cataract Aswan + Four Seasons Cairo configuration. The price typically includes all guiding, admissions, internal flights, transfers in S-Class Mercedes and the cruise/hotel tier. UK flights separate. Add 25–35% for Christmas, New Year and the school half-terms.

  4. 04What's the best luxury Nile cruise ship?

The Oberoi Philae, Oberoi Zahra (4-night sailings) and Sanctuary Sun Boat IV are the three benchmarks – small ships (40–60 cabins), suite-only configurations and Egyptologist guides retained per group not per cruise. For an even smaller scale, the dahabiya Adrere Amellal-class vessels carry 6–12 guests under sail. We hold preferred-partner rates with all four and the team pairs you to the right boat based on dates, party size and how social you'd like to be.

  5. 05What does sunrise Pyramids access actually mean?

Standard tourist hours at Giza open 8am. Luxury Egypt holidays include a 5:30am private gate-open arrangement on a single morning – you have the plateau effectively to yourself for 90 minutes before any other visitor. The arrangement requires advance permits coordinated through our Cairo office and a senior Egyptologist; the cost is built into the holiday. We can do the same at the Valley of the Kings (KV5 / KV9 after-hours) and at Abu Simbel (5am photo session before the day-trip flights land).
