Which London airport for which Egyptian airport
- Cairo (CAI): Heathrow T2 (EgyptAir) or T5 (British Airways). No direct from LGW, LTN or STN.
- Hurghada (HRG): Gatwick North (easyJet, BA Holidays, TUI), Luton (Wizz), Stansted (TUI).
- Sharm el-Sheikh (SSH): Gatwick (easyJet, TUI), Stansted (TUI).
- Marsa Alam (RMF): Gatwick (TUI), Luton (Wizz).
- Luxor (LXR): No direct from London – one-stop via Istanbul (Turkish) or via Cairo (EgyptAir domestic).
Heathrow vs Gatwick: the honest comparison
Heathrow is the only sensible choice for Cairo – EgyptAir's 787-9 and BA's A321neo both leave from there, both around 11:00 local, both landing late afternoon Cairo time. The fares are within £40 of each other most weeks; the deciding factor is usually frequent-flyer scheme.
For the Red Sea, Gatwick wins. easyJet runs out of the South terminal, BA Holidays out of the North. Hand-luggage-only fares to Hurghada start around £130 return in shoulder season; add £40–80 for a 23kg checked bag. Wizz from Luton is occasionally cheaper but the schedule is thinner.
Connecting from regional UK to London
If your only realistic option is connecting through London for Cairo, EgyptAir codeshares with BA on the Manchester / Edinburgh / Glasgow ⇄ Heathrow shuttle – book the whole journey on one ticket so you're protected if the domestic leg is delayed.
