02 Overview
A first look
By late afternoon the sun deck smells of warm teak and Nile silt, the river moving past in a steady, slow rhythm while the lounger cushions warm under the sun. On board, wide panoramic windows and a shaded lounge bar offer places to read, compare notes with fellow travellers, or watch small riverside life glide by between the shore excursions.
You will move between cabin, deck and shore with time to rest as well as explore; mornings ashore are often followed by afternoons for tea or a nap on the sun deck. One of our Egyptologists will meet you on embarkation to brief the excursion programme, and we arrange embarkation and disembarkation at Luxor and Aswan.
Background
The facts
Nile Style Nile Cruise is a five-star Nile river vessel used for scheduled sailings between Luxor and Aswan. In normal operation, the programme alternates sailing days with shore excursions rather than continuous transit, with embarkation and disembarkation handled at the river ports in Luxor and Aswan. The ship is marketed with Standard, Deluxe and Suite cabin grades, and cabin layouts may include panoramic windows or Nile-view balconies depending on category and availability.
The excursion programme commonly covers major Upper Egypt monuments and temple sites on the Nile corridor. These include Karnak Temple, begun in the Middle Kingdom and expanded mainly from the 16th to 11th centuries BCE; Luxor Temple, connected to New Kingdom royal ritual; the Temple of Horus at Edfu, one of the best-preserved Ptolemaic temples in Egypt; Kom Ombo, a dual temple dedicated to Sobek and Horus; and Philae, relocated in the 20th century because of the Aswan High Dam project. Visits to the Valley of the Kings on Luxor’s west bank are also part of many cruise programmes.
Accommodation aboard a Nile cruise vessel is typically sold on a per-person-sharing basis, with a single supplement applied when one guest occupies a cabin alone. Full board generally covers lunch on embarkation day through breakfast on disembarkation day. Public spaces usually include a dining room, lounge bar, and sun deck for viewing the river landscape while sailing between the two cities.
Weekly sailings operate in both directions between Luxor and Aswan, so the same vessel can be arranged as either an upstream or downstream Nile cruise depending on the sailing date. The practical experience is shaped by daily sightseeing, meals, and nights aboard rather than by long overland transfers between individual monuments.

Accessibility
Who can join this
The vessel and its excursions require a moderate level of mobility. Many Nile cruise boats have steps between the gangway, public areas and cabins, and some cabins have 10–20 cm raised thresholds; lifts are uncommon. Shore excursions include uneven temple approaches, cobbled quays, sandy paths and low stone steps at Valley of the Kings and Philae, so prolonged standing and short uphill walks are typical. Wheelchair users should note that full independent boarding of the vessel is often not possible; we can arrange meet-and-assist at airports and ports and request crew assistance, but boarding may still require steps and physical help. If you use a mobility scooter or an electric wheelchair, contact us before booking so we can check the specific vessel layout and shore-excursion accessibility. Bring any mobility aids and any necessary medication in carry-on luggage. If you have limited mobility, slow walking pace, or recent surgery, tell us at enquiry so we can advise whether this cruise is suitable and arrange tailored assistance where feasible.

How we travel here
The vessel uses diesel engines typical of Nile cruisers and air-conditioned coach transfers for scheduled shore excursions. To reduce fuel use we book shore excursions to follow the vessel's established programme, which cuts duplicated road transfers. The crew and most on-board staff are recruited locally, and the vessel sources produce and daily-baked bread from markets in Luxor and Aswan when available, supporting small suppliers. On board, the crew operates a linen-reuse option and separates recyclable waste where port facilities permit; single-use plastic bottles are discouraged and filtered water stations are provided in public areas where the vessel has installed them. We work with the cruise line to share feedback on waste handling and community hiring; please tell us if you wish to add a community visit or market stop to support local vendors directly.
