Day by day
Detailed itinerary
3 Days / 2 Nights · Luxor · Alexandria · Cairo
- 1
You are collected in downtown Luxor and driven to Luxor Airport for the flight to Cairo. At Cairo Airport a representative meets you, helps with your bags and takes you to your hotel, around an hour's drive. The rest of the day is yours to rest, and no meals are included. The two nights in Cairo are a deliberate buffer, so that a late flight from Luxor does not put your journey home at risk.
- 2
This is a long day, around 12 hours in all including the drives, and it suits good walkers. After breakfast you are collected from your Cairo hotel for Alexandria, with your English-speaking Egyptologist guide. Entrance fees and an air-conditioned vehicle are included. You begin at the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, then go to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the modern library.
Lunch looks out over the Mediterranean. The afternoon takes in the Citadel of Qaitbay and a stroll through the gardens of Montaza Palace before the drive back to Cairo.
- 3
After breakfast at the hotel you check out. A private vehicle takes you to Cairo Airport, leaving about 90 minutes for the drive and for check-in, and a transfer representative helps with your luggage. Your holiday ends here.

We ask guests to bring a refillable water bottle and to follow the rules at each site.

Asked & answered
Frequent questions
01Is the flight from Luxor to Cairo included?
The holiday covers the transfers at each end, the hotel nights and the Alexandria day. The flight itself is not listed as part of it, so we will confirm at booking whether it is included or needs booking separately.02How long is the day in Alexandria?
Around 12 hours including the drives, so expect an early start and a late return. It is a long day and suits good walkers.03Is the Alexandria tour private?
It runs in a private or small-group air-conditioned vehicle, with a licensed Egyptologist all day. We tell you which applies on your dates when you book.04Which hotel will we stay in?
You choose a standard when you book, from budget to luxury, and we confirm the hotel for your dates. The itinerary is identical at every standard.05Do we see the Giza Pyramids?
No. The Giza Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum are not part of this holiday. Ask us about adding a guided day in Cairo.06Which meals are included?
Breakfast on days 2 and 3, and lunch overlooking the Mediterranean on day 2. Nothing is included on day 1.07What is not included?
International flights, the Egyptian visa, tips for guides and drivers, drinks and meals other than those stated, and anything not in the itinerary.08Will I make my flight home?
Your internal and international flights are separate bookings, so a late flight from Luxor could make you miss a same-day connection. That is why this holiday ends with nights in Cairo, as a buffer. If you have to connect on the same day, book a late-evening or night international flight, and check that your travel insurance covers a missed connection.
