02Overview
A first look
If you want a week by the sea with something to do in it, this is the holiday. You fly into Sharm El Sheikh, get to your hotel, and from the next morning take one outing a day. They are all on or beside the water: a yacht trip to Ras Mohammed, a day of two guided intro dives, a cruise around Tiran Island and a semi-submarine ride over the reef. The final outing is a short city tour, so you also see something of the town.
The rhythm is easy. After you arrive there is one excursion each day and the remaining hours belong to you, whether that means the pool, the beach or a slow supper. We arrange the airport meeting, the hotel, the excursions and your lift back to the airport. You pick the hotel standard when you book, from budget to luxury, and the outings are the same whichever you choose.

Day by day
Detailed itinerary
7 Days / 6 Nights · Sharm El Sheikh · Ras Mohammed National Park · Tiran Island · Old Market · Al Sahaba Mosque · SOHO Square
- 1
Our representative meets you inside Sharm El Sheikh Airport and helps with your luggage before a private vehicle drives you to the hotel. Nothing is scheduled for the rest of the day, so you can unpack, take a first swim and choose where to eat.
- 2
Once you have had breakfast, a vehicle collects you and takes you to the yacht, where you spend eight hours exploring Ras Mohammed, the national park at Sinai's southern tip. The crew begin with a safety talk and give you a mask, snorkel and fins. You swim at a number of reef stops, eat lunch aboard and have soft drinks, and marine fees are already covered.
The captain picks the stops according to wind and sea and may alter the plan for safety. You will probably see plenty of fish, though no particular animal is guaranteed. Then it is back to the hotel.
- 3
This is your chance to try scuba. You are collected from the hotel and spend around seven hours aboard a dive boat that is shared with other guests. A certified instructor leads two guided intro dives, and all the equipment is provided. You need no previous experience, but a medical questionnaire comes first and the operator can decline people with certain conditions.
Think of it as a taster rather than a qualification. Lunch, soft drinks and water are served on the boat, and park fees are paid. Rough seas can lead the boat to change its plans.
- 4
A vehicle takes you from the hotel to a boat for a day around Tiran Island, which sits in the strait between Sinai and Arabia. The boat is shared with other guests and you are out for around eight hours. At the reef stops a snorkelling guide takes you into the water, and we supply the mask, snorkel and fins. Lunch, soft drinks and water are served on board and marine park fees are included.
The captain can change or cancel the sailing if the wind and waves make it unsafe. Turtles and other wildlife are possible, never promised.
- 5
Today is the gentle one. You are collected from the hotel and taken to a semi-submarine, shared with other guests, for a ride of around 90 minutes. You look at the reef through windows set below the waterline, with a soft drink and water on board. The outing lasts about three hours in all, which leaves most of the day free for the pool, the sand or a stroll.
- 6
Your final full day stays on dry land. An English-speaking guide travels with you in an air-conditioned vehicle shared with other guests, visiting the Old Market, Al Sahaba Mosque and SOHO Square over about four hours. Bottled water is provided. Cover your shoulders and knees if you plan to step inside the mosque.
You are then dropped back at the hotel, with the rest of the day to swim or pick up souvenirs.
- 7
Have breakfast, check out, and a private vehicle drives you from the hotel to Sharm El Sheikh Airport, with help carrying your bags. The pick-up is set around your flight, so let us know your departure time and we will confirm when to be in reception.

Field notes
From our Egyptologists
- 01
Wear a long-sleeved rash vest for the Ras Mohammed snorkelling day; the Red Sea sun is fierce and your neck suffers first.
- 02
Mention any cold, blocked ears or sinus trouble to your instructor before the introductory dives, as equalising is harder when congested.
- 03
Take travel sickness tablets before the Tiran Island boat day if you are prone to queasiness, because the strait can be lively.
- 04
Cover your shoulders and knees for Al Sahaba Mosque and carry a light scarf; you will remove your shoes at the door.

Make it yours

Suited to
Is this for you?
Yes, if
- Holidaymakers who want a Red Sea beach week with a reason to get on the water each day. It suits beginners, as the snorkelling needs only basic swimming and the dive day is led by an instructor.
Maybe not, if
- Guests with heart conditions, asthma, ear problems or pregnancy on the intro dive day, and anyone who wants sightseeing in Cairo or on the Nile.

Children & families
Children are welcome on the hotel nights, the city tour and the semi-submarine trip. On the sea days a child should be happy on a boat and in the water, and the operator confirms age limits for each outing when you book. The two-dive intro scuba day has its own age and medical rules, which the dive operator confirms. Child prices depend on age and on the room, so we quote the exact figure once you give us the child's age.
Accessibility
Who can join this
The boat days mean stepping from a jetty onto a yacht or dive boat, moving around the deck and entering the water by ladder or platform. Rough seas make the deck harder to cross. The semi-submarine is the gentlest outing, though boarding still involves steps. Hotel pickups and the city tour run in air-conditioned vehicles. We cannot promise wheelchair access at every jetty or vessel, so please tell us what you need when you book and we will be straight about which outings suit you.
– Responsible travel
How we travel here
Marine park fees are included on the boat days, and the snorkelling and dive trips follow park rules about keeping clear of the coral. Please wear reef-safe sun cream, do not stand on or touch the reef and do not feed the fish. The trip uses road transfers, boats and a semi-submarine, so we make no carbon claim. We work with local operators based in Sharm El Sheikh, which keeps your spending in the town.

Asked & answered
Frequent questions
01Is every day full of sightseeing?
No. After you arrive there is one excursion a day, and the rest of the day is yours. Days 2, 3 and 4 are the longest, at roughly seven to eight hours each, while days 5 and 6 take about three and four hours.02Do I have to be able to snorkel or dive already?
No, beginners are welcome. For the snorkelling days basic swimming is enough, and the crew give a safety briefing and the equipment. The dive day is led by a certified instructor and needs no experience.03Is the intro dive a diving qualification?
No. It is a guided taster with an instructor, not a PADI or other certification course. You fill in a medical questionnaire first, and the operator can decline guests with some conditions, such as heart problems, asthma, ear problems or pregnancy. The operator confirms age limits when you book.04Will we meet dolphins or turtles?
You might, but we cannot promise it. They are wild animals, so a sighting is a bonus. Reef fish are what you can expect on the snorkelling and dive outings.05What happens if the sea is rough?
Boat trips go ahead only as weather and sea conditions allow, and the captain can alter the route or cancel a sailing for safety. If that happens we tell you and offer the nearest alternative. Any refund follows our cancellation and refund policy.06Is snorkelling equipment provided?
Yes. You are given a mask, snorkel and fins on the Ras Mohammed yacht day and on the Tiran Island day. The dive day includes full scuba equipment.07What kind of hotel will we have?
You choose a standard at booking, from budget to luxury, and we confirm the hotel for your dates. The excursions are the same whichever you pick.08Are flights from the UK included?
No. The holiday begins with your private pick-up at Sharm El Sheikh Airport and finishes with a private transfer back to it. International flights, the visa and tips are extra.09Will I catch my international flight home?
On a direct flight out of Sharm El Sheikh the final transfer is timed around your departure, so the risk is small. If you connect through Cairo, the two tickets are often separate bookings and a late first flight could cost you the connection. We would then suggest an extra night in Cairo, or a late-evening or night flight onward. Do take travel insurance that covers missed connections.
