Fly out of your Sharm resort to Cairo and Luxor for the pyramids, the Sphinx, Karnak and the Valley of the Kings. Internal flights, transfers, two hotels and an Egyptologist are all booked for you.

The short answer

4-Day Cairo & Luxor Trip from Sharm El Sheikh is a 4-day, 3-night trip to Cairo, Luxor and Sharm El Sheikh: 2 nights in Cairo and 1 in Luxor. It includes an Egyptologist guide and transfers. Prices start at £1,296 per person, two sharing (Essential, October–April).

02Overview

A first look

Many guests who book a week in Sharm El Sheikh want to see the real Egypt too. This four-day trip lets you do it without moving out of your resort for good. We collect you from your hotel, fly you to Cairo and bring you back to the same hotel on day 4.

There are two nights in Cairo. You begin with Coptic Cairo, then spend a full day at the Giza pyramids, the Sphinx and the Egyptian Museum. On day 3 you fly to Luxor for Karnak and a night in the city. Day 4 covers the West Bank, followed by flights via Cairo back to Sharm. That last day is very long. We arrange every flight and transfer, and you choose the standard of hotel when you book. The sightseeing does not change.

What lingers

Field notes

From our Egyptologists

  1. 01

Travel light: four internal flights in four days mean repeated security checks, so a cabin-sized bag keeps every transfer quick.

  2. 02

At Giza, step back from the crowded viewing area to find a clearer angle that places the Sphinx in front of the pyramids.

  3. 03

Karnak is large, so wear comfortable shoes and ask your guide to include the Sacred Lake, which is calmer than the main halls.

  4. 04

Keep your boarding passes and passport in a daypack on the last day; the Valley of the Kings visit runs straight into your flights home.

Tailor it

Make it yours

Choose your hotel standard when you book. Ask us about an extra night in Cairo to avoid the long last day, or a longer stay in Luxor.

Your own specialist deals with each request before you book.

Suited to

Is this for you?

Yes, if

  • Guests on a Sharm El Sheikh holiday who want the pyramids and Luxor as a short break from the resort. Suits couples, friends and solo travellers who are happy with four flights and long days.

Maybe not, if

  • Travellers who need step-free access to every site, or who prefer a slow pace. Day 4 is very long.

Honest assessment

The honest pluses and minuses, as our own team sees them after running this trip.

Highlights

  • The pyramids, the Egyptian Museum, Karnak and the Valley of the Kings in four days
  • All four internal flights and transfers arranged for you
  • You start and finish at your own Sharm hotel

Things to Consider

  • Day 4 is very long, with a day of sightseeing and two flights
  • Early starts and a lot of walking on uneven stone
  • A fast pace with little free time

Where it fits

A good fit if you are already in Sharm and want Egypt's major sites quickly. If you would rather avoid the long last day, ask about adding a night in Cairo.

Worth knowing

How this compares

Many Sharm excursions stop at Cairo. This trip adds Luxor within the same four days, with each flight and transfer booked for you. The hotel standard is your choice; the sightseeing stays the same.

Children & families

Children are welcome. Each child has a seat in the vehicle, so transport and guiding are charged at the adult rate at any age. Entrance tickets are free under 6 and full price from 6. Hotel costs depend on the child's age and the room used, so we quote the exact figure once you tell us the age. Days 3 and 4 are demanding for little ones, with early flights and a late finish back in Sharm.

Accessibility

Who can join this

Expect plenty of walking on big archaeological sites, over uneven stone and sand, with steps and narrow passages inside the tombs. Giza, Karnak and the West Bank have long open stretches with little shade. Day 4 is very long: a morning of sightseeing, then two flights. Our vehicles are private and air-conditioned, but we cannot promise wheelchair access at every site. Tell us what you need when you book and we will be honest about which parts will work.

– Responsible travel

How we travel here

The trip uses four internal flights and private road transfers, and the vehicle type can vary, so we make no claim of a carbon saving. Guiding is by local Egyptologists and the services come from local suppliers in Cairo and Luxor, so a good share of your spend stays in the places you visit. Please bring a refillable water bottle and keep your hands off the painted walls in the tombs.

Asked & answered

Frequent questions

  1. 01Where does the trip begin and end?
It begins at your hotel in Sharm El Sheikh on day 1 and finishes back at that hotel on day 4. Your Sharm hotel and your flights to and from the UK are not part of it.
  2. 02Are the internal flights included?
Yes. Sharm El Sheikh to Cairo on day 1, Cairo to Luxor on day 3, then Luxor to Cairo and Cairo to Sharm El Sheikh on day 4 are all booked for you, with 23 kg of luggage and taxes. International flights are not.
  3. 03How long is the last day?
Very long. After a morning on the West Bank in Luxor you fly Luxor to Cairo and Cairo to Sharm on the same day. Flight times are set by the airline, so you could be back at your hotel late at night. Plan nothing for that evening.
  4. 04Do we go to the Grand Egyptian Museum?
No. On day 2 you visit the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square. The Grand Egyptian Museum is not part of this trip.
  5. 05Will I make my flight home?
Take care if you fly out of Egypt on day 4. Internal and international tickets are separate bookings, so a late internal flight can cost you the connection. We prefer you to have one last night in Cairo. If you must fly to Cairo and connect the same day, pick a late-evening or night flight home and buy travel insurance that covers missed connections. This trip ends in Sharm, so if you fly home from there, leave a good margin.
  6. 06Which hotels will we stay in?
You pick a standard when you book, from budget to luxury, and we name the Cairo and Luxor hotels for your dates. The itinerary and sightseeing are the same at every standard.
  7. 07Is it suitable for children?
Yes, but days 3 and 4 mean early flights, a lot of walking and a late finish. Think about how your children cope with long days before you book.
  8. 08What is not included?
International flights, the Egypt visa, tips for guides and drivers, drinks and meals other than those stated, and your Sharm El Sheikh hotel.
  9. 09When is the best time to go?
October to April is cooler and far easier for walking round the sites. Summers are hot, especially in Luxor, so days start early.
