The short answer
7-Day Cairo, Luxor & Hurghada Holiday is a 7-day, 6-night trip to Cairo, Luxor and Hurghada: 3 nights in Cairo, 1 in Luxor and 2 in Hurghada. It includes domestic flights, an Egyptologist guide, entrance fees and transfers. Prices start at £1,298 per person, two sharing (Comfort, October–April).
02Overview
A first look
The week divides neatly into three. Cairo opens it, with dinner on the Nile on your first evening and a full day at the Giza Pyramids, the Sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum alongside an Egyptologist. Next comes Luxor: you fly there on day 3 to see Karnak and Luxor Temple, and the following morning you cross to the West Bank for the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut's temple and the Colossi of Memnon.
The Red Sea closes the trip. You travel by private car from Luxor to Hurghada, roughly five hours, and then have a day with no plans at all. On day 6 you fly to Cairo for one last night before heading home. We organise both flights, every transfer, your hotels and all entrance tickets, and you choose the standard of hotel at the time of booking.

Day by day
Detailed itinerary
7 Days / 6 Nights · Cairo · Luxor · Hurghada
- 1
A representative greets you in the arrivals hall at Cairo Airport and takes you to your hotel to unwind after the journey. In the evening you are collected for a cruise on the river. It lasts around two hours, with a buffet dinner, a live show and the lights of the city sliding past. A private car returns you to the hotel at the end.
- 2
You spend a full day, roughly eight hours, with an English-speaking Egyptologist. The Giza Plateau comes first, where you wander among the pyramids and meet the Great Sphinx. Lunch follows at a restaurant with a view, and then you go to the Grand Egyptian Museum to see the Tutankhamun collection. Entrance fees and air-conditioned transport are included.
By the evening you are back at your hotel for a second night in Cairo.
- 3
Once you have had breakfast, a car takes you to Cairo Airport for the flight to Luxor, where a driver meets you. Your Egyptologist then shows you the East Bank, beginning at Karnak, Egypt's largest temple complex, and ending at Luxor Temple on the riverside. Guide, entrance fees and transport are included. Timings depend on the airline's schedule. Lunch is not included today.
- 4
Your Egyptologist takes you over to the West Bank for the Valley of the Kings, where three tombs are included, followed by Hatshepsut's temple and the Colossi of Memnon. Guide, entrance fees and transport are included. When the visits are finished you leave Luxor by private, air-conditioned car for Hurghada, about five hours away.
As you change city, this is the longest day of the holiday, and you reach your hotel on the coast in the evening. Lunch is not included.
- 5
The programme is empty today, which is the point. Lie in, swim, settle by the pool or walk beside the Red Sea. Should you fancy a boat trip or some snorkelling, let us know and we will quote for it. Breakfast is served at your hotel.
- 6
After breakfast you are driven to Hurghada Airport to catch the flight to Cairo. A driver collects you on arrival and takes you to your hotel. There is nothing planned for the rest of the day, leaving time to pack, wander or buy souvenirs. Finishing with a night in Cairo is a deliberate safety window, so a late internal flight cannot put your journey home at risk.
- 7
Have breakfast, check out and meet your driver. The private run to Cairo Airport allows about 90 minutes, so you arrive calmly for your flight home. We hope Aswan and a Nile cruise draw you back to Egypt another time.

Field notes
From our Egyptologists
- 01
Ask for the earliest Giza visit time, as the plateau is quieter before coach arrivals build up.
- 02
At the Valley of the Kings, carry water and plan for uneven paths and heat in the open sections.
- 03
Grand Egyptian Museum viewing is calmer early in the day, before group arrivals peak.
- 04
In Hurghada, keep small cash for drinks and extras, as card acceptance varies by venue.
- 05
Luxor Temple photography is often better after sunset, when the courtyard lighting is on.
Tailor it
Make it yours
You choose the standard of hotel when you book. Ask us about extra nights in Hurghada, a Red Sea boat trip or snorkelling, adding Aswan, or a hot-air balloon flight over Luxor.
Your own specialist deals with each request before you book.
Suited to
Is this for you?
Yes, if
- Travellers who want the big sites of Cairo and Luxor followed by a quiet stop on the Red Sea. Suits couples, friends and solo travellers who are happy with a long drive and two short flights.
Maybe not, if
- Travellers who need step-free access to every site, or who dislike long road transfers. Day 4 is long.
Honest assessment
The honest pluses and minuses, as our own team sees them after running this trip.
Highlights
- The pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum, Karnak and the Valley of the Kings plus a free beach day
- Both internal flights and all transfers arranged for you
- A final night in Cairo protects your flight home
Things to Consider
- Day 4 combines the West Bank with a five-hour road transfer
- Uneven stone, steps and little shade at the major sites
- No Aswan, Abu Simbel or Nile cruise
Where it fits
A good fit if you want history first and rest afterwards. If you want Aswan, Abu Simbel or a Nile cruise, choose a longer holiday.
Worth knowing
How this compares
Many operators sell Cairo, Luxor and a beach stay as separate trips. This holiday joins them in one week with both flights, transfers and entrance fees arranged for you, and finishes with a night in Cairo so a late internal flight does not put your flight home at risk.

Children are welcome. Every child has a seat in the vehicle, so transport and guiding are charged at the adult rate at any age. Entrance tickets are free for children under 6 and full price from 6. Hotel prices depend on the child's age and the room used, so we give you the exact figure once you tell us the age at booking. The five-hour road transfer is long for small children.
Accessibility
Who can join this
This holiday involves a good deal of walking around large archaeological sites, on uneven stone and sand, with steps and some narrow tomb passages. The Valley of the Kings and Karnak have long, open stretches with little shade. The transfer from Luxor to Hurghada takes about five hours by road. Vehicles are private and air-conditioned, but we cannot promise wheelchair access at every site. Tell us what you need when you book and we will say honestly which parts suit you.
– Responsible travel
How we travel here
The holiday uses two internal flights and long private road transfers, and vehicle types vary, so we make no claim about carbon savings. Sightseeing is led by local Egyptologists and arranged through local suppliers in Cairo, Luxor and Hurghada, so much of what you spend stays in the places you visit. We ask guests to bring a refillable water bottle, to keep their hands off the painted walls in tombs and to treat the reef gently if they swim in the Red Sea.

Asked & answered
Frequent questions
01Are the internal flights included?
They are. We book the Cairo to Luxor flight on day 3 and the Hurghada to Cairo flight on day 6, with times set by the airline. Luxor to Hurghada is covered by a private road transfer of about five hours. International flights are not included.02Will I make my international flight?
Internal and international tickets are separate bookings, so a delayed internal flight could cost you the connection. We would always rather you had a final night in Cairo, and day 6 ends there for that reason. Should you ever need to fly to Cairo and connect the same day, pick a late-evening or night departure home. Travel insurance that covers missed connections is wise.03Is the drive from Luxor to Hurghada hard going?
It is about five hours in a private, air-conditioned vehicle, and it comes after the West Bank sightseeing on day 4, which makes that the longest day of the holiday. Day 5 is free, so you can recover.04What is there to do in Hurghada?
Day 5 is left open. Most guests swim, lounge by the pool or walk along the water's edge. No boat trip or snorkelling is included, though we can quote for one if you would like it.05Are the guide, entrance fees and transport included?
Yes. An English-speaking Egyptologist, the entrance fees and the transport are included for the Giza and museum day and both Luxor days, including three tombs in the Valley of the Kings.06What sort of hotels will we have?
You choose a standard at booking, from budget to luxury, and we confirm the hotels for your dates. There are six nights with breakfast: two in Cairo at the start, one in Luxor, two in Hurghada and a final night in Cairo. The sightseeing is identical whatever you choose.07Which meals are included?
Breakfast is included on days 2 to 7, dinner on the Nile cruise on day 1 and lunch on the Giza day. Other lunches and dinners are for you to arrange.08What is not included?
International flights, the Egyptian visa, tips for guides and drivers, drinks, lunches on days 3 to 6, dinners other than the Nile cruise, the inside of the Khufu pyramid, premium tombs such as Tutankhamun's, and travel insurance.09When is the best time to go?
October to April is cooler and kinder for walking around temples. Summer is very hot, especially in Luxor, so days begin early. The Red Sea stays warm enough for swimming for much of the year.
