Seven days over Easter 2027 at the pyramids, Abu Simbel and Luxor's temples. Both internal flights, six hotel nights, transport and an Egyptologist are included.

The short answer

7-Day Easter Holiday in Egypt: Cairo, Aswan & Luxor is a 7-day, 6-night trip to Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and Abu Simbel: 2 nights in Cairo, 2 in Aswan and 2 in Luxor. It includes domestic flights, an Egyptologist guide, entrance fees and transfers. Prices start at £1,326 per person, two sharing (Essential, October–April).

02Overview

A first look

Easter makes a good week for Egypt. March is warm without being hot, which suits long days among the monuments. This holiday is timed for Western Easter 2027, running from Wednesday 24 March to Tuesday 30 March, with Easter Sunday on 28 March, day 5.

You stay two nights each in Cairo, Aswan and Luxor. Cairo gives you the Giza Pyramids, the Sphinx, Saqqara and Memphis. A flight south takes you to Aswan for the High Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk, a felucca at sunset and a full day at Abu Simbel. On Easter Sunday you travel by road from Aswan to Luxor, calling at Kom Ombo and Edfu. Luxor offers the West Bank and Karnak. We organise both internal flights, every transfer and your hotels. You pick the standard of hotel when you book; the sightseeing is the same whichever you choose.

Field notes

From our Egyptologists

  1. 01

Easter is a popular time to visit, so aim to arrive at Edfu and Kom Ombo early before coachloads turn up at these compact temples.

  2. 02

Do not miss Medinet Habu on Luxor's West Bank: it is far less crowded than the Valley of the Kings and its wall carvings keep much of their colour.

  3. 03

On departure day, tackle the hypostyle hall at Karnak first thing and leave your luggage with the driver while you explore.

  4. 04

A sun hat is vital at Abu Simbel, where there is little cover between the coach park and the temples.

Tailor it

Make it yours

You choose the standard of hotel when you book. Ask us about other Easter dates, extra nights in Cairo, or a church service in Easter week.

Your own specialist deals with each request before you book.

Suited to

Is this for you?

Yes, if

  • First-time visitors who want a compact introduction to Egypt over the Easter holiday: Cairo, Aswan and Luxor. Suits couples, friends and families with older children who are happy with two flights and long days on foot.

Maybe not, if

  • Travellers who need step-free access to every site, or who prefer a slow pace in one place. The Abu Simbel day and the journey from Aswan to Luxor are long.

Honest assessment

The honest pluses and minuses, as our own team sees them after running this trip.

Highlights

  • The pyramids, Abu Simbel, Edfu, Kom Ombo and Luxor's main sites in seven days
  • Both internal flights and all transfers arranged for you
  • Timed for Western Easter 2027, with other Easter dates on request

Things to Consider

  • Long road days to Abu Simbel and from Aswan to Luxor
  • Uneven stone, steps and little shade at the major sites
  • Easter week and March are busy, so book early

Where it fits

A good first trip to Egypt over Easter. The holiday ends with a flight to Cairo on day 7, so book a late flight home.

Worth knowing

How this compares

Many Easter itineraries squeeze Cairo and the south into one hurried route. This holiday gives each city two nights, with both flights and every transfer booked for you. The hotel standard is your choice; the sightseeing stays the same.

Children & families

Children are welcome. Every child has a seat in the vehicle, so transport and guiding are charged at the adult rate at any age. Entrance tickets are free for children under 6 and full price from 6. Hotel prices depend on the child's age and the room used, so we give you the exact figure once you tell us the age at booking. Day 4 to Abu Simbel and day 5 from Aswan to Luxor mean many hours in the car, so consider how your child copes with long journeys.

Accessibility

Who can join this

This holiday involves a good deal of walking around large archaeological sites, on uneven stone, with steps and a few narrow passages. Abu Simbel, Edfu, Karnak and the West Bank have long, open stretches with little shade. Days 4 and 5 include long drives. Vehicles are private and air-conditioned, but we cannot promise wheelchair access at every site. Tell us what you need when you book and we will say honestly which parts suit you.

– Responsible travel

How we travel here

The holiday uses two internal flights and private road transfers, and vehicle types vary, so we make no claim about carbon savings. Sightseeing is led by local Egyptologists and arranged through local suppliers in Cairo, Aswan and Luxor, so a good share of what you spend stays where you visit. We ask guests to bring a refillable water bottle and to keep their hands off painted walls in tombs and temples.

  • Licensed Egyptologist guides

State-licensed, and people we have worked with for years

  • Fair wages on the ground

Drivers + guides paid above market

  • Site preservation

We follow the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities' site rules: marked paths, no touching reliefs

  • Local teams, real help

Asked & answered

Frequent questions

  1. 01When does this Easter holiday run?
It leaves for Western Easter week 2027: Wednesday 24 March to Tuesday 30 March, with Easter Sunday on 28 March, day 5. Coptic Orthodox Easter is on 2 May 2027 and Sham El-Nessim, the Egyptian spring festival, on Monday 3 May 2027. We can arrange the holiday around other Easter dates on request.
  2. 02Will I make my flight home?
Your internal and international flights are separate bookings, so a late internal flight can mean a missed connection. We prefer a final night in Cairo, but this holiday ends with the Luxor to Cairo flight on day 7. If you connect on the same day, choose a late-evening or night flight home, and take travel insurance that covers missed connections.
  3. 03Are the internal flights included?
Yes. We book the flights from Cairo to Aswan on day 3 and from Luxor to Cairo on day 7 for you. The airline sets the times. International flights are not included.
  4. 04Does the holiday include Abu Simbel?
Yes. Day 4 is a full day by road from Aswan to the Abu Simbel temples, with entrance fees and transport included. It is a long day, so take water and a hat.
  5. 05Is Easter a busy time to visit?
Easter week is a popular time to travel in Egypt, and March is high season. Book flights and rooms early. We do not arrange special Easter events on this holiday. If you would like a church service, ask us before you travel.
  6. 06Which hotels will we stay in?
You choose a standard when you book, from budget to luxury, and we confirm the hotels for your dates. The itinerary and sightseeing do not change.
  7. 07What is not included?
International flights, the Egyptian visa, tips for guides and drivers, meals other than those stated, drinks and travel insurance.
  8. 08Is the sightseeing private?
Yes. Your Egyptologist and driver are yours alone on the sightseeing days, in a private air-conditioned vehicle.
