02Overview

A first look

If a camel ride is too gentle, a quad bike gives you the same desert and the same pyramids view at a faster pace. The ride is in the open desert beside the Giza Plateau. To be clear, you do not go inside the ticketed pyramids site: you ride next to it and stop for the view. You are collected from your Cairo or Giza hotel, given a briefing and a helmet, and have a practice lap before you follow your lead rider for about an hour. The outing is by request, and every rider must be at least 16.

Background

The facts

The ride is in the desert beside the Giza Plateau on the western edge of Greater Cairo, where the pyramids can be seen across open sand.

Asked & answered

Frequent questions

  1. 01How do I book this excursion?
This outing is by request. You send us your dates and the number of riders, and our team confirms availability and the final fare before any payment is taken.
  2. 02How old must riders be?
Riders have to be 16 or older. There is one quad bike for each rider, so younger children cannot share one. Please give us the age of everyone in your party when you send your request.
  3. 03Do we go inside the Giza Plateau?
No. The ride is in the desert beside the Giza Plateau, not inside the ticketed site, and entry to the plateau is not included. You see the pyramids from the desert and stop for photographs.
  4. 04Have I got to be an experienced rider?
No. You get a safety briefing and a practice lap first, and a lead rider sets the pace for the whole ride. Please tell your lead rider if you feel unsure at any point.
  5. 05What should I wear?
Wear long trousers, closed shoes and sunglasses, and bring a scarf for the dust. A helmet is provided and must be worn for the whole ride.
  6. 06What if I need to cancel?
You are refunded in full if you cancel three or more days before the outing. Between three days and 24 hours before, half the fare is refunded. After that, or if you miss your pick-up, there is no refund.
