02Overview
A first look
This is a private afternoon boat trip on the Nile from Luxor to Banana Island. You are collected from your hotel or cruise boat at 15:30 and walk down to your own motorboat on the corniche. The boat carries your party only, with a boatman at the helm. On the island you stroll through the banana and mango groves with the farmer, then sit by the river with fruit and mint tea. The ride back is at sunset, and you are at your hotel or boat at about 18:30. There is no guide by default, as the boatman speaks only basic English, but we can add one on request.
Background
The facts

Deir el-Medina and Tombs of the Nobles Half-Day Tour
Deir el-Medina preserves the remains of the village where workers lived while building and decorating royal tombs in ancient Thebes. At the nearby Tombs of the Nobles, decorated burial places reflect the status and lives of officials and other members of elite society. The contrast between a workers’ community and noble tomb art gives this Luxor West Bank visit its focus. Unlike a broad West Bank itinerary, this half-day excursion concentrates on these two archaeological sites. A private Egyptologist guide provides context as you visit, with a private vehicle for pickup and drop-off at your Luxor hotel or Nile cruise.
