02Overview
A first look
This is a private evening tour of Luxor town in a horse-drawn carriage. You are collected from your hotel or cruise boat at 17:30. The carriage takes you along the Nile corniche and through the quieter streets of the old town, and your guide then walks you through the local market. Once you have had a glass of tea at a pavement café, the carriage stops outside Luxor Temple and the Avenue of Sphinxes, both floodlit. You are back at your hotel or boat at about 20:30. It suits travellers who want to see how the town lives in the evening, rather than visit more ruins.
Background
The facts

Asked & answered
Frequent questions
01Is the carriage private?
Yes. The carriage carries your party only, with a driver and a guide. Up to six people can travel in one party.02Is entry to Luxor Temple part of the evening?
No. You see the temple and the Avenue of Sphinxes lit up from the outside. If you want to go in, we can add an entry ticket on request when you book.03Will I be pressured to buy things in the market?
Your guide walks with you and can help you bargain or simply look. You are under no obligation to buy anything.04Are the horses looked after?
We work with carriage owners who keep their horses in good condition. If you see a horse that seems unwell or overloaded, tell your guide and ask for a change.05What should I wear?
Wear light, comfortable clothing and flat shoes, with a thin layer for after sunset. The market is crowded, so keep valuables close.06How does cancelling work?

Between 72 and 24 hours beforehand, keep 100% as credit or have 50% back. Within 24 hours, or if you don't turn up, nothing can be refunded or credited. Private Luxor Temple Half-Day Tour
Luxor Temple stands on the east bank of the Nile in central Luxor. Construction began under Amenhotep III in the 14th century BC, with later additions associated with Tutankhamun and Ramesses II. Its courts, columns and statues show how the temple changed across different periods of ancient Egyptian history. The avenue once linking Luxor Temple with Karnak Temple offers further context for the religious landscape of ancient Thebes. Unlike excursions that combine several monuments, this visit focuses on Luxor Temple, giving your licensed Egyptologist time to explain the site’s details. We arrange the visit as a licensed Egyptian tour operator.

LuxorDendera Temple Half Day Trip from Luxor
The Temple of Dendera is dedicated to Hathor, an ancient Egyptian goddess associated with music, love and motherhood. Its main temple took shape chiefly during the Ptolemaic and Roman periods, offering a different architectural setting from the predominantly New Kingdom temples around Luxor. Look for carved columns, reliefs and astronomical imagery across the temple complex. Our private licensed Egyptologist guide explains the site’s history and features as you explore. The excursion includes lunch at a local restaurant. Unlike visits focused only on Luxor’s New Kingdom monuments, Dendera adds a clear contrast in period and religious dedication.
