02Overview

A first look

This is a very long day trip by coach from Sharm El Sheikh to Cairo and back, with six to seven hours of driving each way. The coach collects you at about 00:30, crosses Sinai and goes under the Suez Canal, and reaches Giza at about 08:30. An Egyptologist takes you round the pyramids and the Sphinx, then to a museum, followed by lunch. The coach leaves for Sharm at 15:30 and gets back late at night. The coach is shared with up to 40 guests. A full Egypt visa is needed, as the free Sinai stamp does not cover Cairo.

Background

The facts

Asked & answered

Frequent questions

  1. 01How does the price for the Cairo coach trip work?
The price is per person and is the lowest-cost way to see the pyramids from Sharm. It covers the coach, guide, tickets, lunch and water. Prices are provisional until our team confirms your booking, and we confirm availability before payment.
  2. 02Do I need a visa for this trip?
Yes. The free entry stamp for Sharm El Sheikh and the rest of Sinai does not cover Cairo, so a full Egypt visa is needed. Please check this before you book and bring your passport on the day, as the road has checkpoints.
  3. 03What time is collection and when do we get back?
Collection is at about 00:30 from hotels in Naama Bay, Sharks Bay, Nabq, Hadaba and the Old Market area. The coach leaves Cairo at about 15:30 and reaches Sharm between about 21:30 and 22:30. Our team confirms exact timings after booking.
  4. 04Is this long day suitable for children?
Under 2s travel free, ages 2 to 11 pay half the adult price, and ages 12 and over pay the adult price. The trip is about 22 hours with long coach journeys, so it is hard on younger children. Please think carefully before you book it for them.
  5. 05What should I bring on the coach?
Bring your passport with a full Egypt visa, a neck pillow, a light blanket, a hat, sun cream, comfortable shoes and snacks. The coach air conditioning is cold at night. Wear light clothes that you can add layers to, and keep some cash for tips and optional tickets.
  6. 06How does cancellation work, and who operates it?
Cancel three or more days before for a full refund, and between three days and 24 hours before for half. Inside 24 hours, nothing is refunded. We are an Egyptian operator (ETAA Licence 718), not an ATOL or ABTA member, and we do not sell international flights. The coach is shared.
