6-Day Egypt Holidays
Six days is the classic Cairo + Luxor itinerary without a Nile cruise. Three nights at Giza for the Pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum, and Old Cairo. Fly to Luxor. Three nights at the Winter Palace or equivalent for Karnak and Luxor Temple (east bank), Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon (west bank). Fly back. No cruise, no Aswan, no Abu Simbel – those add 2–4 days each. Suits travellers who want the temples without a ship cabin, those with motion sensitivity, and anyone using Egypt as a stopover on a wider itinerary.

Practical questions
What clients ask about this style of holiday.
01Can I do Egypt in 6 days without a Nile cruise?
Yes – Cairo + Luxor in hotels is the standard 6-day cruise-free shape. You see the Pyramids, GEM, Karnak, Luxor Temple, Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut, and the Colossi of Memnon. You skip Aswan, Edfu, Kom Ombo, Philae, and Abu Simbel – all of which sit south of Luxor and either need the cruise or a domestic flight + 2 extra days.
02Why no cruise on a 6-day Egypt holiday?
A Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan is minimum 3 nights, typically 4. Adding the cruise to a 6-day window means cutting Cairo to 1 night (too short for the Pyramids + GEM properly) or skipping Luxor's land sites. We treat 6 days as the cap for cruise-free, and 7 days as the start of cruise-included.
03Should I take a 6-day or 7-day Egypt holiday?
Choose 6 days if a Nile cruise isn't appealing (motion sensitivity, prefer hotels, prefer flexible pace) and you're happy with Cairo + Luxor as the full picture. Choose 7 days if you want the cruise, Aswan, and Abu Simbel included – those three together are the difference between the two shapes. For first-time Egypt visitors who want the temples and the Nile, 7 days is the more complete holiday.
04How much does a 6-day Egypt holiday cost from the UK?
Private 6-day Egypt holidays (Cairo + Luxor in hotels) start around £950 per person at 5-star, twin share, all internal flights, transfers and admissions included. Mid-range (4-star hotels) runs £720–£900 per person. Premium tier (Winter Palace Luxor, Marriott Mena House) is £1,400–£2,200 per person. UK flights £450–£700 from London or the regional hubs are separate. Add 25–35% for Christmas, New Year and the school half-terms.
05When is the best time for a 6-day Egypt holiday?
October to April for the most comfortable weather across both Cairo and Luxor – daytime temperatures sit in the low-to-mid 20s°C, dry, low humidity. November to February is peak; April lines up with Easter and one of the prettiest weather windows in Upper Egypt. We don't run 6-day southern itineraries in July or August by default – Luxor hits 40–46°C in midsummer.
